Welcome to Andy's Pan Mass Challenge page! The traditional PMC is a two day, 192 mile bicycling fundraising event, extending from the middle of the state to the tip of Cape Cod (amongst other routes). The PMC benefits the Jimmy Fund of Boston's Dana Farber Cancer Institute - one of the best cancer research and treatment centers in the world. DFCI has excelled in treating children's cancer. The Jimmy Fund was established in 1948. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $1.05 BILLION for cancer research and treatment at Dana Farber.
I have been riding the PMC since 1991. Nowadays, I do a remote PMC, somewhere in California. For stories, facts and figures, be sure to check out the FAQ and Story Time tabs.
2021 was a hard year, riding in memory of my mom who lost her battle with lung cancer in December, 2020. With the help of my awesome sponsors, I was able to raise nearly $23,000, a new personal record. The PMC raised $64 Million that year! My 2021 ride story,
Miles For Mom, can by found by following that link.
For 2024, my rides were in memory of my good friend Chris Spear, who passed away suddenly in March of this year. Chris got me to buy my first racing bike, then recruited me to the PMC in late 1990. He was my best man in 1992. And he was a cancer
survivor, conquering bladder cancer just a few years ago. He will be
sorely missed. As a bonus ride, in November, I did the Death Valley Century, which is a ride that was on Chris' bucket list. I was able to raise over $17,000, thanks to my awesome sponsors. The story about the 2024 rides, entitled CBS, can be found following that link.

11/20/24, the Death Valley Century was last weekend! Chapter 2 of the CBS story is available, there's a link to jump to it in the first paragraph. As well, the PMC hit their goal, presenting a check for $75M to Dana Farber on the same day as the DVC.
