During the afternoon of March 24, we drove out to the tip of the Otago Peninsula to see the Royal Albatross colony.  This is the only breeding albatross colony in the world which is located on an island inhabited by humans.  The Royal Albatross has a wingspan of 10 feet -- truly huge!  It was completely fogged in when we got there, so we thought we were out of luck, but then realized we could see the birds soar along the cliffs at the end of the parking lot.

As we drove back towards Dunedin, we were treated to a beautiful sunset, a grand farewell to New Zealand.  We certainly enjoyed our visit and hope to return someday!
