New Zealand's most famous sound...or, more accurately, fiord. Fresh water plunges into the fiord and mixes with water from the Tasman Sea.
We took a nature cruise from the head of the fiord out to the sea and back. In the morning we had some fog, but the afternoon was clear. The fiords are so beautiful -- steep, steep mountainsides drop directly into the blue water. Trees grow on the impossibly steep slopes, and snow caps the tallest peaks.
